While the Saints and the city of New Orleans are celebrating their Super Bowl victory; the Colts, the city of Indianapolis, and even Phil Ivey are simply left thinking, ‘what could have been’. The Las Vegas Review Journal reports that Ivey, and a friend placed a $2 million bet on the Colts to cover the line and to win the Super Bowl. With the Saints winning the game and a final score at 31-17 Ivey lost on his wager. Though it does hurt the bankroll odds point to Ivey winning this money back in his next session at the craps table.

The PokerStars ‘Super Tuesday’ continued the $1K events last night as 423 players showed up on the felt to battle it out for their share of the $423,000 prize pool. A Las Vegas resident in the name of ‘Sowerss’ ended up shipping the Super Tuesday for a hefty payday of $81,173.70. The different between first and second was $21,000, but nonetheless ’AAKKina’ took home a year’s salary valued at $60,277.50. It was another fun filled Sunday as major PokerStars tournaments took form. The Sunday Million saw 9,301 entrants show up to play in the event making a prize pool of $1,806,200. It was a two way chop as ‘palurdo’ took first place for $248,791, and the counterpart on the deal was ‘golferen50’ who took home $198,789 for second place. The PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up began with 4,900 entrants as it was narrowed down to a three way chop. ‘philivey0997’ took first place for $133,620, ‘trippkirk’ ended up in second place for $104,152, and ‘vaderGZ’ wound up in the third place for $110,548.

The most legendary poker player in the history of the game is taking a ‘leave of absence’ from the poker table. Doyle Brunson will take a short break from the tables as he is to undergo dental surgery. Brunson will miss the Party Poker Premier Leave IV, because he will not be fully recovered from the surgery. Though this isn’t a major surgery it is still a surgery that requires Brunson to rest up. No poker tournament is the same without Doyle Brunson in the mix, but everyone will be highly anticipating the return of the legendary poker player.
