The $100,000 Challenge began today as Event #8 of the 2010 Aussie Millions. Obviously with the buy-in set at $100K the field was expected to be relatively small with no amateurs in the mix. The field started out with 24 players, but the field has already been chopped down to 8 remaining players. The players still alive consists of (from 1st to 8th) Jonathan Karamalikis, Dan Shak, Barry Greenstein, Phil Ivey, Tony Bloom, Tony G, Bill Jordanou, and the ‘Professor’ Howard Lederer. Only 5 places pay in this tournament with a whopping a $1.2 million AUD headed to the winner.

The World Series of Poker is always right around the corner, and Titan Poker wants to do their part to send a player to participate in the ‘main event’. If you want to play for the seat you must have an account by February 1st and that’s exactly when the competition will begin. Luca Pagano is currently sitting in 2nd place and right behind them in third place sits Dario Minieri. Other PokerStars pros currently in the mix consists of ElkY, WSOP champion Peter Eastgate, and Jude Ainsworth. The CEREUS Poker Network, a combination of Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker, wrap up the $1K week with Wednesday’s $150K Guaranteed. With a solid $238,000 in the prize pool 238 players hit the felt for their shot to earn an annual salary in one night. The results show that ’CHICAGOCARDS1’ and ’JOHNNYBELOW’ were the top 2 finishers in the tournament as it appears a deal took place. First place was $61,880 and second place was only a mere $36,890 (little sarcasm), so both players walked with healthy victory Wednesday night. The 5,000 buy-in main event tournament starts today as Day 1A of Deauville saw 331 players hit the felt. As of now Cristiano Blanco is leading the pack, but close behind are the likes of Andrew Teng, Michel Abecassis, and Katja Thater. This is only Day 1A of the action so we will see new names and faces crash the poker room tomorrow for the start of Day 1B.
