World Poker Tour Enterprises closes the deal to sell most of its assets to Peerless Media, a subordinate to Party Gaming. Party Gaming is the world’s leading online gaming company and one of their main sites includes Party Poker. Peerless Media will pay World Poker Tour Enterprises $12.3 million for the rights to the majority of the assets despite a late, much larger offer from Mandalay Media. Mandalay Media was a late bloomer in the deal and they offered WPTE a whopping $36.5 million (WHAT!?!) for the rights. WPTE decided that the Mandalay Media proposal was ‘not a Superior Proposal’.

The United States Poker Championship from the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City will finally return to television. I don’t know about you but I can always watch poker whenever it’s available so thank you Spike TV. After a two year absence from television the US Poker Championship will return to the tube for at least five years as the Trump Taj Mahal reaches an agreement with Compass Entertainment, LLC. There is no set time for when the championship event will broadcast but other discussions are taking place to televise other tournaments that will take place during this schedule.

CBS’s ‘Amazing Race’ says goodbye to professional poker players Maria Ho and Tiffany Michelle. Tiffany and Maria put up a fight but it came to an end on Sunday when they were eliminated by the host, Phil Keoghan. The poker duo had a difficult time completing the challenges as the challenges had to deal with strength. Ho and Michelle were actually in 2nd place when this challenge started and they were eliminated with 5 teams remaining in the race. Strength may not be there strong point (little pun intended) but at least they both have poker to come home to.
